Connecting Communities in the Northwoods of Wisconsin through Silent Sports Recreation
The Three Eagle Trail Foundation is a local, nonprofit organization dedicated to creating the first alternate route between the communities of Three Lakes and Eagle River, Wisconsin.
The Three Eagle Trail is a 12.7-mile linear park connecting the two communities of Eagle River and Three Lakes, Wisconsin. Offering four-season silent sports recreation opportunities to locals and visitors alike has been the central goal of this project. Both Eagle River and Three Lakes have rich histories of offering great recreation, nestled among the hardwood forests of Oneida and Vilas counties.
Bike, walk, or run during the spring, summer, and fall, and when winter comes enjoy 4.9 miles of a cross-country ski trail that is groomed for skate and classical skiing.
The trail is currently in two sections of compacted crushed limestone, separated by a short section on a low-traffic paved road. Amenities such as bike repair stands, water fountains, pit toilets, and shelters welcome visitors. In addition, the trail crosses several creeks and marshes, providing wonderful opportunities to see wildlife in their natural environment.
